POEMS

I enjoy the process of putting words together in a condensed way to create a poem.
I find this much easier than writing a story or an autobiography.
You can find out out a bit more about me through my poems.

Theres a quite a few more, which I will list asap, so tune in again soon.

I hope you enjoy them!

LOCKDOWN REMINISCENT RAMBLE

Iv always loved walking, but during the first lockdown the beach felt so weird,
there was no activity on the water and everything seemed strange.
Iv lived near the sea since I was 11 and has always been an important part of my life.
So here I am reminiscing.

LOCKDOWN LAMENT

It was strange time during the first lockdown.
Its funny how you adapt and get used to a situation.
I feel much better now than when I wrote this.
I just hope they dont shut the schools again!

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Iv had so many jobs over the years.
I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do when I left school in 1984.
I started painting in 2000 and it became a nice little side line alongside employed work.
It was only when I got a smart phone and got savvy online that I managed to make a success of my art business.
I absolutely love what I do now and feel so lucky to be working full time as an artist.
Thank you so much for your custom. I couldn't have done it without you.

WAR AGAINST PLASTIC

Inspired by Holly Maslen's plastic exhibition,
I wrote a series of poems about the environment.

DOWN FROM LONDON

I wrote this when I moved back to the Island in 2018.
It was so nice to be home, I missed the buzz of Bembridge life during the summer.

THE LITTLE ELF

I wrote this a few years ago. Elves are all the rage at the moment.
To be honest I get a bit fed up with them!

HERE I AM IN CYPRUS

I wrote this in 2007. As you can probably tell, Im not really one for holidays abroad.
I like eating fish and chips on the seafront.
(except for the damn seagulls)
I rarely leave the Island these days. Im happy and content here.
But one day when Iv got more time, Id like to buy a campervan and travel all around the British Isle.

LIFE ON THE PUMPS

I worked at the garage in Bembridge on and off for over 20 years.
I enjoyed the comings and goings of the customers,
plus I got to sit in my own little hut with endless supply of hot chocolate and
got through so many books.
As far as jobs go it was one of the best.....and iv had quite a few!

I WANNA BE FREE

Bit depressing this one!
I was really struggling with bills at this time.
I like my home comforts too much to live in a field.

FORT WALK

The first fort walk I ever did was in the mid 80's.
There wasnt many of us, I was totally unprepared and got very wet jeans,
We then ended up having fish and chips on a friends houseboat.

The photo was taken during lockdown in April or May.
I didnt walk out to the fort but it was a beautiful evening and perfectly still.
Until a bloody drone came buzzing over and completely ruined the atmosphere.

HUSTLE TARTAN

Based on true story, if a little exaggerated.
But you get the gist.
My mum and dad hoped Id find a nice man in a suit with a good job.
I suppose its what every parent hopes for but I was having none of that.
